Choosing the Set list: How a Great Wedding Band Can Help

Choosing the music for your wedding can be both exciting and daunting. You probably have a good idea of the kind of music you’d rather have at your wedding but you also have to consider your guests and all of their different preferences.

While you can’t please everyone, there are quite a few good choices for your wedding music and an equal number of unfortunate ones that you probably want to stay away from.

Choosing a wedding band that can guide you in this treacherous landscape is vital. As we’re able to cover anything from classic to modern pop, we are one of the few Dublin wedding bands that can help you with this.

Make sure you agree on the style

With so many different wedding bands available, you are pretty much spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing the right style for you and your wedding. Just make sure you talk to the band extensively and ask for their setlist so that you can be certain your style requirements match.

For instance, we’ll ask the bride and groom to choose up to 20 songs from our extensive setlist and try to incorporate them into the evening as best as we can.

Think of any requests you want to make

Your wedding day is very special and you should be able to make it happen exactly like you want it. The best wedding bands will tell you exactly what they can and can’t play and will also make sure you’re comfortable with the setlist.

Adding to that, don’t think that an all-male wedding band can’t cover a female singer/band or vice versa. We cover Tina Turner, Amy Winehouse, and Dolly Parton just to name a few!

Don’t worry if you aren’t a music aficionado

No wedding band worth their salt will expect you to know a lot of about music. Just focus on whether you like the band’s sound or not. Trust your gut, listen to one of the band’s video showcases, and try to picture them in your own wedding.

That, combined with the band’s setlist, should give you a pretty good idea of whether or not you like their style and if they would be a good fit for your own wedding.

Trust the wedding band you choose

One thing to keep in mind is that when you hire an experienced wedding band like A Few Good Men, their setlist will have been carefully crafted and tested in dozens if not hundreds of weddings.

Having a good conversation with your wedding band is crucial. Let them know a little bit about your guests, for instance, and they’ll be able to recommend songs that will appeal to the possibly diverse audience, particularly those that will cater to every age group.

Lively is always better than not

While a couple of waltzes are perfectly suitable for a wedding, you want your guests to have fun and be energetic on the dance floor, not be contemplative and melancholy.

The easiest way to achieve that is to pick upbeat songs and a wedding band that can truly bring that electric energy to the forefront, making your guests feel comfortable with getting on the dancefloor and staying there throughout the night.
